Meet Mrs. Hanson our Elective for Social Emotional Learning

At St. John Baptist De La Salle School, our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) elective supports the development of the whole child by helping students build self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and healthy relationships from Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade.

SEL instruction is provided during the school day as part of our elective rotation, ensuring that every student receives intentional, age-appropriate support in developing the social and emotional skills needed for success in school and life.

Growing Hearts, Minds, and Character

As students progress through the grades, SEL lessons are developmentally scaffolded—from learning to identify emotions and practice kindness in the early grades to building self-advocacy, leadership, and peer collaboration in middle school.

Through guided discussions, reflection, role-playing, and real-life applications, students learn how to navigate emotions, build healthy relationships, and respond thoughtfully to challenges.

Our Social Emotional Learning elective reflects our commitment to student well-being, character formation, and a caring school community, helping students grow into confident, compassionate, and responsible individuals.
